Cabbage
Looper & Cabbage Worm
Description: In most of the country it is almost impossible
to raise any vegetable in the cole family (cabbage,
broccoli, cauliflower, kale, etc.) without controlling
these green pests, 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" long. Presence of
white or yellow butterflies signals start of infestation.
These cabbage pests can defoliate plants very quickly
when fully grown. They eat holes in leaves, leaving
green excrement.
Solution: Super-Light Insect Barriers are excellent
to block infestation. Trichogramma control these cabbage
pests; they lay their eggs in, and destroy, the eggs
of moths and butterflies which would otherwise hatch
to become cabbage worms and loopers; but they do not
kill the pests themselves. Once these pests have hatched,
use MVP II or Bt ssp. kurstaki for complete and
rapid control of cabbage worms and loopers. Feeding
stops almost as soon as Bt is eaten, and the worms die
within 48 hours.
