: Could anyone please recommend some annuals to grow during drought season. My town (in Massachusetts) is under strict controls with water as we are very very low. I am in Zone 6. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. (sun or shade as I am trying to fill many areas.)

I did a search at and put in quotes "drought tolerant annuals" and got 86 hits. You should be able to find some names with that. Also, you can click on 'Images' above the search box for pictures. Great search engine.

We've had a terrible drought here in Maryland for 3 years now. Consider using rain barrels (you can search google for those too). Some other things we have done are to shower with a bucket at your feet, catch the rinse water from your washing machine, use bath water from kids, save vegetable cooking water and add to your house plants or even those in outdoor pots. I just fill the rest of the pot with plain water. It's great minerals and vitamins for the plants and it's free.

Good luck,
