You don't mention how large they are, but if the ground isn't frozen, pot them in plastic nursery pots, water well and bury the pots up to their rims in the garden. Do make sure it's a spot with good drainage. If the ground is beginning to freeze, cover with some old blankets for a couple of days and the ground will thaw enough to dig in. I did this last winter as we had done renovations too and it worked.
