Out of Control Climbing Roses with No Place to Climb

We just bought a house that came with a climbing rose bush that is at least 10 years old, or more. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH IT!
It's massive, but uncontrolled. It sits in front of a bush near our front door. It's completely out of control, of course, as it has nothing to climb on and not even in a place where I could put a trellis, so it's a bunch of waving thorny stems.
There's no place for me to train it to ... can I just move it to, say, the backyard where there is a trellis but no plants? Should I wait until it greens and starts to bloom or do it now while it's still dormant? (I live in Northern Ky and expect at least one more frost although it's 60 degrees now.)
I hate where it is located and I hate the absolute unruliness of it, although I know it could probably be a beautiful plant if trained correctly.
Is it okay to trim it back a little now, if I can't move it? Or, since we'll probably have at least one frost again before May, should I wait?
