Imaptients just fall over at the root like they wilt ... Please Help me!

I bought a plat of Impatients, planted them and within 5 days I am down to half, and still seem to be loosing more. They looked heathy however the complete stem just falls to the ground, like it wilts. It is mushy around the root area where the stem meets the root, I dont see any slugs or snails, but I treated them anyway when this first started happening with slug and snail bait and also insect killing soap at the root area. I am still loosing them.Help me please, I love my little plants.
