I too was wondering what to do with the spent stems/leaves from my Glads. I now know that I can cut the stalks and then dig up in Oct/Nov (I live in Zone 4).
However, the leaves and stalks have been pulverized by Grasshoppers (they only came on once the flowers were done.) Is this normal? I know many places across the country are having grasshopper/locust issues this year, but wonder if Glads are an especially desireable food source?
