Jade plant dropping leaves

This plant is otherwise healthy looking, but it is dropping its leaves from the bottom at an alarming rate! I sprayed the rest of the plants in the house with an oil based poison to control Scale on a plam. I also sprayed this jade plant, did i do the wrong thing? Also it is in a glazed decorative pot by itself. I did not put any gravel on the bottom of the pot, could this be the problem? It is a very small plant in a small container. Plant is maybe 4" high in a pot that is maybe 3" tall by 2.5" around. Please help soon, I fear that it will be gone by the end of the week! Or possibly sooner, it dropped 10 leaves yesturday and so far 4 have fallen to day, the bottom stem is naked! Thanks, Sarah
