I had the same thing happen to one of my Aloes. I thought it WAS a goner, but brought it inside and treated it as though it were healthy. (Put it in a bright sunny spot, watered it occasionally when it was dry.) Amazingly, it came back. - So don't give up too soon!

(A good way to tell if it's really alive or not is to see if it "uses" the water that you give it. If it stays perpetually wet, then it's probably gone.)
