What I decided to do was to get a really big black plastic pot - 5 gal I think - fill it half way with soil, stick in the suicidal aloe and bury half the plant. Now, I've still got lots of aloe above the soil level, but the plant will be supported by the sides of the pot for quite a while (it will be a while before it grows enough to try to leap out again). I did this maybe 4 to 6 weeks ago and it seems to be doing fine.
