: I don't know for sure, but I think this is too cold to be left outdoors all year around (unless you want to plant close to the house for warmth and go to the hassle of covering it up every time it freezes).

: : Hi, our son has bought us a giant aloe vera for Christmas. It is looking very healthy in a large pot. We want to keep it out of doors and ideally transplant it into the garden. We live in a temperate part of New Zealand. How would it tolerate these conditions. In particular the cold and wind. We get about seven to ten frosts per year dropping to probably no colder than about minus 5 degrees centigrade. We also get quite cold winds blowing in off the sea in the winter months.
