: my aloe plant is fairly large, 25-30" leaves, 3-4 " wide, it has gotten a rot in the stem, about 3 " from bottom leaf, , my question is how can i save it?, can the leaves be made to root?, i have propagated it a few times already from shoots, but would like to save the large leaves or plant

Hi Chris,

It would depend on the variety of aloe as to how you can root it. If you want to try a leaf, cut the leaf off, put in a shady area and let it form a callous for at least 2 days and up to 4. Then put in moist soil and pray. Or, you could cut the stem a couple of inches above the rot and let form a callous. Then pot up the same way.

Good luck,
Newt
