Newt is right, you can get them at any garden center or nursery. Depending on where you live, they are usually abundant. I am from the south, and there are so many varieties it make ones head swim! I collect only succulents that have no thorns. (my pomeranian get's into everything!) There are aloes, jades.... the list goes on. If you are from a colder region, you will need a spot that can get plenty of sun in the winter, but you will probably need a grow light on them if they are inside plants during winter, and to protect them from the elements during those months. All succulents love sand in their dirt. I place river rocks at the bottom of my pots to allow for drainage. I went to my local home store (ours is home depot) and they have bags of pre-mixed soil call "succulent soil", that is perfect for these guys. Succulents are so beautiful, and unusual! They really aren't that picky either. Be sure to only water them about every two weeks in the summer and about once a month in the winter (stick a toothpick in the dirt to see when it's dry for potted plants). Good luck!
