Bloom from Aloe

: What do I do with the bloom from my aloe now that it is gone?  Do I leave the shoot or can I cut it without harming my plant.  The stem still seems vibrant, but the color is gone from the flower. If I cut it, should I trim at the plant or higher on the stalk?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
