Rooting Hormone for Aloe?

I have a series of Aloe sprouts that I wish to separate, and plant. Since this is the only plant I've ever been able to keep alive, my knowledge is minimal.
What's the best way to separate a sprout from the mother plant and plant it separately? Should I use "rooting hormone” to get them going?
