I'm zone 9b, Florida and I've seen DisneyWorlds fireworks from home before, too. And I had a bog garden at that home. I grew things like pickerel weed, nuphar, and cattails, and emersed plants like ludwigia, submersed plants like vallisneria. I had sundews for a while, grew violets and other moisture loving plants on the edges of the sunken pond. Anything that needed to be more emersed I would have on upended pots so that only the pot was in the water or whatever requirement it needed.

I encouraged a natural ecosystem with frogs and toads, snails, and mosquito fish. I had to introduce the mosquito fish, though. Other stuff including gammarus and hydra came in on wild collected plants.

It can be a lot of work, especially if it's not a naturally occurring water feature. DisneyWorld is built on reclaimed swampland, so there are definitely wetland around it, but my yard was pretty dry without my intervention.
