Bamboo...
Recently, I've had several trees in the ditch at the back of my yard die off or fall from heavy wind. The trees used to create a real thick wall of leaves that was really nice to block off the view of the houses and yards on the other side of the ditch. Now, as I'm in the backyard, all to look at is what the neighbors are doing in their backyard. My neighbor and I both decided we liked it better before, and would like to plant something that would make a thick wall again. I thought of bamboo, since it is fast growing and thick. My question is... Is there any certain bamboo that would do the best? Do nurseries even sell bamboo, or would I have to dig it up from somewhere else? I know some people consider it a weed, and would love for it to be gone, but I just want to hear a few opinions first. Thanks, Mark

Be careful!
Personally I love bamboo. But you have to be careful if you get the fast spreading kind. It moves as quick as weeds. You should certainly be able to find some at a local nursery. And there are plenty of online sources. If you get a type that spreads, you have to be sure to keep it well contained or you will have it all over the place. Many people won't even consider putting it near their yard. They consider it one of those plants that look great in someone else's yard.
