I have identified Pearl Scale in my Scottsdale Az yard. I have just reseeded the lawn with perrenial rye as the PS is dormant in the fall winter, here. My question is What do I do in May when the temperatures rise? I have been told that 12 to 60 inches of soil must be removed an replaced or I can treat it with "MERIT" ?? in the spring. I am considering plowing up 6 inches with a machine remove all the old grass and replant from seed. They? say from seed has the best chance of combating these little devils or am I just wasting my time and should resolve myself to remove as much dirt as is necessary?
