    Bougainvillea advice!

    Hello everyone,

has anybody got any advice on repotting a bougainvillea which is in a 5" terracotta pot with the roots showing through the bottom.

What compost should i useand when is the best time to repot? I am keeping it in a south facing conservatory in East Sussex, UK.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks very much!

    Hi Jill,
They prefer to be repotted in spring, so you're spot on! If the roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot, then it's definately the time. Check the roots when you unpot it, and if they are circling around and around, try and gently tease some of them loose so they won't continue to grow that way in their new pot. Use a pot that is 2" larger than the one you have now. Here's a site that should be very helpful.

    Good luck,
