Should I be throwing the crabgrass that i pull out of flower beds by the roots onto the compost heap?

My fear is that comes next spring the compost will simply propogate crabgrass everywhere i use it.

    Is that likely?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi London,

If you are cold composting there is the risk that the seeds will not be destroyed in the composting process.* If your compost heats up and has a good balance of greens and browns, it shouldn't be a problem as the weed seeds will be destroyed by the heat.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
