    Hydrangea vine not clinging

This past spring I bought two Hydrangea vines (Zone 5), one large one and one small. The small one, at the back of the house, has started clinging to the wall. The larger one at the front, not at all!

I subsequently read somewhere that buying large Hydrangeas is not a good idea, that they won't cling.

Any advice on getting the vine to cling to the wall would be appreciated!

My expert answer is: "I don't know"!

I typed climbing hydrangia in the Internet search area...about all I found out is that:

" From a three-foot-tall start with no width, it took a couple seasons to climb all over the rain barrel,
then started shooting a few tendrils to the wall of the house. It sure isn't a fast grower compared to, say,
the akebia vine which fills up an arbor in a single year, but compared to climbing hydrangea which is
    burdensomely slow in getting established."

So it sounds to me that it will take a few years to really send out tendrils that will cling to
whatever it is suppose to cling to! HHope that helps a little.

    Love, Janie
