Looking for a biodegradable mulch mat

    Hi folks,

I'm new to the boards, and am happy to meet you all!

I live in SoCal, and am looking for recommendations on a mulch-type mat.
    I'd
like it to be made from natural materials that can biodegrade after 2-3
    seasons
(a seasonal mat would be great, too), looks nice, and is lightweight and
    easy to
    work with.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Chris

Hey flying_tigger. Ken here with The Home Depot in the Chicago area.
You could use a turf starter seed germination blanket that is used for
grass seed. It’s biodegradable and photodegradable. The size is 8”X 48”.
But remember that straw leaches nitrogen from the soil, so you will have to
add nitrogen to the soil to keep the levels up. I hope this helps. Take care.
