I will be planting Vinca Minor soon and was wondering what the best type of mulch to use around these plants would be. I live in Georgia, in case that makes a difference.

    Thank you!

    Hi Toeknee,

I prefer organic mulches such as shredded wood or bark mulch.* Please keep in mind that vinca minor is listed as an invasive species in Georgia.* If you would like a substitute I'd be glad to help.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Thanks, Newt. I am aware of its nasty little tag, but I plan to do my best to keep it under control. If I use the wood chip mulch, I guess this means I'll need to convert the rest of my beds in the same area over to this new mulch...I currently use Pine straw.

Hopefully you won't be planting the vinca* near a woodland area.

As for the mulch, if your garden doesn't look nice with one bed or area with the wood mulch, you may decide to add it to all the beds in that area.* Personally I prefer a consistent look.
