newt!* HELP!* i've been unable to walk without crutches since major surgery last year, and my back garden resembles a rainforest!

where do i start?* is it better to just weed with hope, or cut the grass and spy out what is going on?

you would NOT believe the state it's in!

    i need a newt!

    Hi Sama,

I'm sooo sorry to hear you are still having problems walking.* :(* How sad for you.* I have a similar situation with neglecting my garden.* My back has been giving me fits and some days I can barely get out of bed, so my hubby mowed down most of the weeds and now, after a rain with the soil more easily worked, I'm pulling some weeds that are in the beds.* It's a mess too, so I understand how overwhelming it can be.

I'd say to mow what you can so the weeds don't reseed and pull what can't be mowed.* Does it sound like a plan?

    Please get better soon.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

[align=left]actually, that sounds like a wonderful idea!* many thanks, newt!*

my son cut the grass the other day, and i hobbled along the borders pulling up clumps of grass which had enthusiastically seeded itself EVERYWHERE!* to my amazement, most of everything has actually survived!

    hope you feel better soon!

Thank you so much for the good wishes.* My back will be ongoing unless I have surgery and it isn't bad enough for that yet. *:? ** I dread the idea of surgery as my hubby has been through it several times.* He is doing much better these days, but it scares me to have someone cut me open on my spine.* So I do what I can and try and be careful.* With my animal rescue activities I tend to over-do.* Lifting dogs in and out of the car isn't a good thing, but I try and get others to do that for me when it's a large dog.* Sometimes I just take a pill and do whatever I need to do.* I transport and overnight dogs for the Pet Railroad, and if my hubby isn't here to help me carry the animal carriers into the house, that really puts a strain on me.* I often spend Mondays in bed, saying I won't do that again, but I always do.* Thankfully my hubby is supportive of my animal rescue activities.* This past weekend my hubby wasn't here to help, so I got a wonderful girlfriend to help me.* She really saved my back as we had to carry in a mother and her newborn pups in a pet carrier.* I could never have done that alone.

I do hope your foot heals soon.* It's so frustrating not to be able to get around and do what you want.* Please take care and don't over-do.

I would also recommend to cut the grass at first and then see what's going on and what can be done. Get well soon!
