I like the picture posted on the Shade Garden page.* It looks lush and colorful and I wouldn't mind trying to duplicate it to some degree in my yard.**Can anyone identify the plants?

Hi Harley,
The picture is small and the only one I recognize is a blue hydrangea.
Newt
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
Thanks for giving it a shot, Newt!**I agree*with the blue hydrangea call.* If I had to guess some of the others, I'd say hosta, spirea, lamb's ear(?) and lilies.* It looks like a vine may be falling over the hydrangea.* I'm not sure of the identity of the yellow-green, evergreen shrub/tree in the background.****
This photo was taken by Dan Hinkley or a staff member of Heronswood.* I've sent a note to them to address this query, but I don't know if I will get a reply.

The tree in the background is:
Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia'

I have it in my back and front yard.* This picture gave me the interest to buy this tree.
Backyard.
Backyardgardener, that's wonderful to know.* Heronswood is such a beautiful place I wish I lived nearby so I could visit.* Of course with the new ownership, I wonder what will become of it.* That's a beautiful tree.* Does yours have thorns?
