Exclamation Soilless mix for potting houseplants

    Good afternoon all
My question is about soilless potting mix. Can I use it for all my indoor plants. I have heard that it is very good for the plants. Would appreciate any info.
Also can I use cactus mix for any plant or only cacti. Thank you Carol

    Hi Carol,

The basic potting mix is peat moss with perlite and maybe some vermiculite added. Most potting mixes today come with a slow release fertilizer already added. Cactus mix has more grit added for quick draining as peat moss will hold water once it's wet. I wouldn't suggest using a cactus mix for most tropical houseplants.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

You can also make your own potting mix if you have the time.
