Are these Laurels?

Hi everyone,
I have a border in my garden that is running amok a little. Can anyone tell me if these are (as I believe) Laurels, and how I should prune them.

We had a major phone outage in the UK and our website was down. It's back up now and the Laurels? are visible once more.
