I have a whole bunch of beds that I never did put a weed guard, so I am going back now one by one.* I dont have a whole lot of newspaper as we dont subscribe, can I use the gazillion catalogs I get in the mail each day, or are the shiny glossy pages a bad thing? Sounds like a real silly question. Sorry.

    Thanks, Dina :)

Actually that's not a silly question at all.* Most newspaper print is made with veggie or soy based dies.* Glossy printed pages of magazines and catalogs can contain heavy metals and aren't the best to use this way. Some are made without the glossy dies and those would be fine.* Got any neighbors who subscribe?* How about plunking down $2.00 for the Sunday paper?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Yeah, was gonna go the Sunday paper route anyway due to a grocery worker telling me about the coupons. And its only 98 cents. Thanks for the tip. Guess I'll just take the catalogs to the recycle center.

Okay, Guru, quick question. What about cardboard boxes? I have also a gazillion of them from moving and packing recently.* Some of them have been written on with sharpie markers. Others are cereal boxes and or water boxes with the product name printed on them from the warehouse.

I thought of you yesterday when I was putting old newspapers in a paper bag for recycling.* I wished I could send them to you, but alas they are so heavy.* Yes, cardboard boxes are great (not to worry about the markers) as well as cereal boxes, water boxes and brown paper bags.*
