Seasonal window boxes

I have a client who wants seasonally interesting window boxes. Currently in the Hudson valley, we are transitioning from late summer into fall.
I was thinking gallon sized junipers and Ilex verticulata berries/or bittersweet vines...
Any websites that offer ideas?
Any ideas from anyone's personal experience?

I'm not familiar with hardy plants in your area but you might try posting at this forum if you already haven't: http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/contain/

You can also try to go to your local nursery and they will be able to give you a start too.
