    pachypodium problems

I have had a pachypodium (Madagascar palm) for two years now. It is 8 inches tall, and its in a 5 inch terra cotta pot in a commercial cactus soil. I water it thoroughly every 10-14 days. I haven't been fertilizing it. It gets plenty of light as far as I know, since it is in a west window. Recently I have noticed that the new leaves turn black and soft once they reach an inch or two long. What could be the cause of this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Toixtln,
Your plant is actually a succulent. It doesn't like to be wet in the winter. It may staying too wet when you water and it also may need to be repotted. Take a look at these sites to see if that helps.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
