bleeding hearts

My bleeding hearts look like cooked pasta after our recent cold and snow. Are they going to return to normal ? Do I trim off the cooked portion ? Thanks for the help.

I would say to wait and see what they do in the next couple of weeks.* You will probably need to trim off the brown leaves, but for now they might add some extra insulation since the weather is so crazy.* :shock:*

What a difference a week makes. They are about 6 inches high with no trace of brown. I am always amazed what comes in spring. Is it okay to devide these plants right now? thanks from Coralbelle.

You could divide them now, but if they have been in the ground for 3 years or less I would wait untl they are at least 3 or 4 years old.* You should find these helpful too.

Thanks Newt, I will take the 3 year rule to heart ( ha ha ). I was going to divide an old plant but with the 80 degree weather we have had this past week the plants are already 10 inches high. Thanks so much for responding, Coralbelle.
