Hi,
I'm looking to add to my hosta speciman garden and my local nurseries only have about 20 hosta cultivars. Does anyone know of a good place to find rare hostas or other shade plants online?

Hi Stoton,
At this site you can check references for mail order nurseries and even search by state, country or plant material.
http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/
At this site you can look for hostas by leaf size, leaf color (click on 'Lists') and more.* There's loads of info about them.

Be sure to read the 'Diseases' section, especially info about 'Hosta virus X'.

Good luck with your search,

Stoton, you are very welcome!* Glad you found the Garden Watchdog site at Dave's Garden helpful.* Until recently there was a fee to join their forums.* As a result I never joined there.* I know of many sites, but as an Administrator here it isn't appropriate for me to send you to other boards.* I'm sure you understand.* Of course you are free to do a google search with terms such as:
garden forum + plant trade
garden forum + trade plants
garden forum + trade hosta
Some of the most popular should be listed first.* :)* If you have any problems feel free to send me a private message.

Hi Newt,
Thanks again for your help. I've just run out of places locally to find* and browse plants so it's nice to be able to talk to people with more knowlege and interests beyond the folks at Home Depot or Lowe's.:)
Thanks again for all your help. I just saw that you're in the same zone as me-- Zone 7.
Stoton, you are so very welcome!* I just love to 'talk' plants.* If you do find other boards to join, be sure to add your state and hardiness zone so others won't have to ask you where you are.* Please feel free to ask more questions.
