Help with planting Lilies of the Valley

I have been waiting to get my mother some lilies of the valley for her birth day for years, and since it falls on the first week of April, they never have them at my local greenhouses. :(

This year I thought I would be innovative, and I order them online. I did not notice until after the purchase that they will be shipped in what they call "the bare roots of the plant". My question is: will it be ok to plant them this late in the season? Will they bloom? Any special care instructions? :?

Any guidance on this will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Rowan,

What a lovely thing to do! This should tell you all you need to know.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
