    Hyacinth

    :?:

Hello. Please somebody, HELP & please answer this question. I bought a hyacinth/mylar plant for my co-worker and myself. It is a beautiful lite purple bloom, however, the blooms are slowly dying off. WE both were wondering if we can plant the hyacinths in our gardens once the weather breaks. We reside in Southern Wisconsin. I have never planted hyacinth bulbs before, only tulips, and I planted those in the fall; so can these be planted in the spring as is coming from the pot?

I am glad I googled today. I am your newest member!!!

    Thanks for your help!!

Generally, forced bulbs are discarded as the forcing process takes all the energy that the bulb has but you could always give it a try. What's it gonna harm?

    Hi Viola,

    *

I'm new here too!* Great site this :D

    *

I have just planted my expired hyacinths out in the garden.* I had them*on my windowcill for ages and my mum came to stay (an avid and very experienced gardener) she told me to plant them outside as they were.* I didn't think I could do this but she said they will just come up next year no problem.* They don't look too pretty because they are dying off but she told me not to cut off the greenery and leave them to die off naturally the same as daffodils etc.** Of course I don't know if mine are the same type as yours but I would've thought that they are all pretty much the same.***As momof8 says I would try anyway there can be no*harm.* *I live in the UK.* Hope this helps.

I plant my forced hyacinths in my garden too.* I have found over the years that they revert to the species with looser heads of blooms, but I think they are more charming that way.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
