    *I** wa
s over at my sister's home yeaterday. she told me to take any plants I wanted from her side yard. I found this pretty yellow plant beside her garage. I found a smaller one in the area she said I could dig from. it looks like a yellow shrub rose without thorns. it also has leaves that look exactly like red raspberry leaves. she doesn.t think it 's a rose, but, she doesn't know what it could be. anyway, i dug up the little one & brought it home. I need to go out & plant it this afternoon. should I put in sun or shade? *sorry, I don't have a way to post a picture of it. anyone have any idea what it could be? their tiny flowers of bright yellow. whatever it is, it's the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen. the flowers are about the size of a flowering almond, only yellow instead of pink. the one she had fully bloomed out was a huge plant. about the size of a full grown rose. by the way, I also found some iris, daylilies, peonies & purple lamium. I have a lot to add to my yard. she's not a gardener, someone else planted this stuff. she just wanted it gone. maybe I'll go back & see what else I can find.

    Hi Aggiegrad,

Without a picture, and not knowing where the plant is located, it would be almost impossible to know what it is.* If it's blooming in Hawaii now or in New Jersey it could make a difference.* Can you take some pics and post them at a site where they have a 30 day free trail?

The only plant that comes to mind would be Kerria.* there a single flower form and a double flower form.

I would say to go back and get whatever she doesn't want.* For now plant it in the same sun conditions in which it grew next to the garage.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Cheryl, you are so very welcome!!* It's not a rose at all, it's just called a Japanese rose.* These shrubs sucker and will slowly form a colony.* If you look closely at the stems they are a lime green color.* In the winter they are interesting against a very light or very dark background.* If you cut the oldest stems to the ground in early spring or just after finish of bloom the young stems will be greener the following winter.* I'm guessing you have the double flowered form.

Say hi to your sister for me and tell her she's giving up some treasures.** Maybe you could show her how to garden?* :)
