I planted 9 lobelia cardinalis plants last summer. They are supposed to be hardy perennials in my zone ( 5), and yet only 2 have emerged! Is it still too early for the rest? (April 29) Anybody know what the deal is with these plants?

Hi Bjames,
I have them in my garden and they spread slowly every year.* No telling why they haven't all returned this year, but you might be surprised in another week or so.* The hummingbirds just love them.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
