    perennial storage for the winter

I have a question about digging up perennials that are in a colder hardiness zone than they are supposed to be in. When you dig them up and store them in a box with moist wood chips or some other medium, do they have to have light during this dormant stage? or can I just keep them cool in my garage without light to protect them from freezing and dying?

    Hi Andy,

Your profile doesn't say where you live or your hardiness zone and you don't say which plants. I have never heard of overwintering perennials this way. More info would be helpful here.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
