    I need suggestions on what to plant around oriental poppies to fill in the space when they go dormant. We live in Minnesota, zone 4.

    I love your name!* There are many plants that would work with oriental poppies. I'm not all that familiar with what will grow in zone 4 so instead of me trying to go through them all and list each one, do a google search with the term:
    companion + oriental poppy

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
