    Pumpkin fruit rott

    Dear Pumpkin pro's,
    Can anyone give some advice.
My father has entered into a competition to grow a pumpkin. He has three well established plants which are sat on a mound of all the right ingredients. When the plants produce small pumpkins the flower falls off and the end of the pumpkin goes brown and rotts. What is he doing wrong? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated for all our sakes.

Sorry to hear about this. I realize it's been quite some time since you posted your question, but take a look here to see if this site will help.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
