Hydrangea Troubles

I recently received a hydrangea bush from my mom and transplanted it from her garden to mine. I admittedly have no idea what I'm doing, but I did what my mom told me to and trimmed off what blooms there were as soon as I had planted it. It looked great when I first planted it about a week ago, but has since developed brown spots on the leaves and even the edges of some of the leaves have become brown. Basically it looks sick.. any thoughts on what might be causing this :?: I would really appreciate any help you can give!
Thanks so much!

Addie,
It sounds like it is getting wayyyyyy too much sun..Did you plant it where it can get evening shade? Hydrangeas love water...when they droop give them a drink...other than that...they should do fine...brown edges on Hydrangeas leaves usually signify they are burning from the sun... Jeanne

That would be really weird if that were it because it's planted in a spot that only sees direct sun for MAYBE 3 hours each day (probably a gross overestimate) and it's got plenty of water. In fact, I've worried a little that it might be getting too much water because where I planted it doesn't have as good of drainage as I thought. Could too much water do the same thing do you think?? :( I just don't see how it could be the sun because of the spot it's in... let me know if you think of anything else, k?
Thanks sooooo much!

Hi Addie,
I realize it's been a while since you posted this, but I was wondering how your hydrangea is doing. There is something called leaf spot that hydrangeas get that sounds like what you have there. Take a look here.

If that is what you have, you will need to clean up all fallen leaves as soon as they fall if possible.

Good luck,

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Hi Addie,
So glad I could help, but sad to hear that is the problem. I hope the fungicide helps. Don't forget to spray up under the leaves and clean up all fallen leaves and debris as often as you can.

Good luck,
Newt
