Can anyone tell me why my Camellia blooms have no fragrance?
Hello Hannaw. Ken here in the Chicago area.
Your Camellia Bonanza is a cultivar of Camellia sasanqua. Cultivars
are usually bred for looks, not fragrance. In the process of achieving
the look that they wanted, the fragrance was bred right out of the plant.
It genetically has no fragrance anymore. Sad, isn’t it. Take care.
Donna here in N. central Fl, wondering if there are any fragrant camillias that grow here in sugar sand?

There are 2 rules for success. Don’t plant too deep and don’t give them wet feet.
Good luck and take care.
