    Highbush cranberry (Viburnum opulus trilobum)

In April I planted a 12in bareroot viburnum opulus trilobum - cranberry bush in Wisconsin. It started out really well. I planted it and an elderberry at the same time and the cranberry started growing leaves right away. Then they shriveled and nothing has been growing. I don't know if it's completely dead, if I should trim the edges to try to promote new growth or let it go and see if it will come back next spring. Any suggestions or ideas?
