I planted 12 holly shrubs in front of my house in the fall of last year. I live in Maine where I am told they do well. I am new to holly shrubs and don't know much about them. I planted them in a row of 2 female 1 male, 2 female 1 male and so on. All 12 of them are flowering with little tiny white flowers right now. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

    Hi Kristen,

I'm not sure I understand.* You planted the shrubs in the fall and they are flowering now.* Is what normal?* That they should flower?* Yup, if you want berries and you supplied the proper male to female mated match, from the flowers come the berries that have the seeds, etc.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
