Does anybody know what is the cause of black bark on Caphor Treess. I have 4 trees in different areas of my backyard and all have black bark on the side that faces to the West, hence this side only get afternoon sun. I live in Sacramento, CA.

Hi Bkatz,
Camphor trees get very dark bark that almost looks black when wet. They don't like poorly drained soils either. Take a look here.
