    Cherries are falling off

We have a cherry tree that was planted 4-5 years ago.It has flowered and gotten cherries for the last 3 years, but the cherries always shrivel up and fall off.
We have been using the appropriate sprays to repel bugs and prevent fungus or other diseases.
Weonly have the 1 cherry tree, but our neighbors just over the fence have a cherry tree also.
    Any ideas? TIA!

    Hi Penny,

Whew, finally someone from WA writes! Cherries are nororiously disease and pest prone in our area. Try refering to the Hortsense website and from the menu bar, click "Ornamentals", then "Ornamental cherry", and then "Brown Rot". You can find more information on this disease as well as management recommendations.

Avoid spraying more until you know what you are spraying for - sometimes people get in the trap of thinking that they have to spray to prevent "something" but are better off spraying for a specific problem. This is also a healthier approach for the plant.

    Good luck!
