I moved into a house last year and when we arrived we saw tent caterpillars in our weeping cherry. By the time we were able to do anything about it, the had eaten the leaves on several small limbs. This year, those limbs have not only not gotten leaves, but the entire branch of the tree, all the way down to the trunk. (My cherry tree has three large branches that meet to form one trunk) I hoped all spring that it maybe was just stressed from last year, since it had buds on it and it the individual twigs were still green, but it seems to have dried out. So, is this entire branch dead? Can I hack it off to save the rest of the tree, and if so, when? The other two branches have leaves, and there is new growth sprouting from the spot where the converge. Are these suckers?

Thank you in advance of any advice you can give!!!
