I live in Louisiana and have had my Meyer lemon tree planted in a pot for two years now.* It has done real well and is currently bearing a lot of fruit, but many of the lemon's skins are splitting.* The skin yellows near the split and eventually the fruit is exposed and turns brown and black.* Any advice on how to remedy this problem would be greatly appreciated.**

    Hi Rudy,

It could be insects such as grasshoppers or from a dry spell followed by heavy rain.* There are other possiblilites as well.* Scroll 3/4 of the way down the page at this first site to 'Splitting'.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
