    Magnolia blooming again??

My wife and I just bought a house, and a week or so before we moved in (mid may) the large Magnolia tree In the back yeard was in full gorgeous bloom... The blooms were gone in a couple weeks, follow by cool weather.

Recently, my wife noticed that there are buds popping up all over the tree, and this morning I notice a few petals under the tree and sure enough there are 5-6 new blooms...

Is this normal? My only thought was that we had 2-3 weeks of cool weather through the end of may-june and it may have tricked the tree into blooming again...

Is this normal, or are we just really lucky to see new magnolia blooms in mid-July? There are hundreds of buds, and from here I count six open flowers... The tree is probabaly 35-45 feet tall and about the same spread.

    Magnolia second bloom

    Hi amestr,

Some Magnolias (especially depending on where you are located) throw a second bloom after their main spring one. It is normal and nothing to be worried about - see if you can get the tree identified one day and you'll be able to find out more info. about it.

    Enjoy!
