    Mango Tree Transplantation

I have mango tree in my backyard which is just next to the boundary wall foundation. It is 6-7 feet tall and I think as it grows it will loosen the foundation. I want to transplant it to another place. My friends tell me it is very had to transplant a mango plant and it may not survive as mango is a very deep rooted tree. Is there any way I can transplant this plant. Otherswise I may have to chop it down.

    Hi Rational 611,
You are correct that the mango has a deep tap root. It can go down 20 feet when mature. Mangos can grow to 65', so it would probably be best to try the transplant. Since yours is a young tree, you might want to try and transplant it, being careful to get that long tap root. Here's a site with mango growing info.

Here's a site that explains how to transplant trees.

    Good luck,
