    Hi everybody,

I got back from a trip to Hawaii yesterday and found a* seed pod under a tree. I know its from that tree because i saw so* many of those trees there and a good number had immature seeds pods. I cannot provide photos right now but i do have a picture that may help. I'll post it as soon as i can.* The tree was everywere (side walks , parking lots, backyards, etc.)it was like what the maple tree in the suburbs.

    Thank you for any help!

    Hi Jessie,

not much to go by ....
Depending on where you were in Hawaii that could be
a number of different trees, but as you say pod rather
than describing it as something round or nut-like I'd
think that it's probably a Monkeypod or a Royal Poinciana.
Did the tree have flowers? If so, what color?

    Aloha,
    Maren

As*most of the trees had already seeded i cannot be fully sure, but* i think I saw one tree that had some pink blossoms that had dried. If it helps I was on the big island

Pink and white 'puffy' flowers is most likely a monkeypod.
    Like this one: http://www.hilozoo.com/plants/PT_monkeypod.htm ?

Monkeypod seeds are oval, dark brown with a lighter brown
ocal line on each side, like this, but they do come in different
    sizes:

The seed pods and seeds are sticky when they are fresh, but they don't
have to be fresh to germinate.

Feel free to send me email, I know my way around the Big Island a bit
(living here almost 20 years) and may be able to identify it just from
    location.

    Aloha,

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
