Due to the Lift Upgrading Programme, irresponsible workers have hacked off my saga tree that has been grown for 6 years with constant nurture and watering. Is there any vegetative propagative method or tissue culture method to revive the tree? The trunk has been cleanly severed in the middle, kinda like in deforestation, but the leaves are still green and all.*Is there any method like grafting or sth to allow the tree to grow? Or any solution to encourage the growth of new roots for the top part of the severed tree?

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Rawrdeedah,

How awful for you!**:X* I've never heard of a saga tree.* Could this be a sago?* This Cycad site has loads of info and you may need to do some reading.* This page talks about rooting the leaves.

It might even resprout from the base.

Lots to read here but maybe it will be helpful.

I suspect you may be in Singapore.* Is there a botanical garden there that grows Cycads?* Maybe you could contact them.* I did find this botanical garden in Thailand that grows them.

Consider contacting Singapore Botanic Gardens.* Maybe they will be able to help with advise.

I wish I could offer more help.* If you aren't in Singapore, let me know where you are and I'll see if I can find you more help.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Thanks for getting back to me.* I did some searching and found that it often will resprout from the roots.* You might find this interesting.

This site has lots of info.* If you click on 'Propagation and Management' it says that large cuttings are successful in India.

I hope that helps and it survives for you.
